Big Sur, the next major update be the first version of the OS compatible with both Intel-based and ARM-based Macs. The soon to be unsupported macOS 10.13 High Sierra was released three years ago, and Apple releases a new major update for its desktop OS every year in the fall season. Either way, Office 365 (now Microsoft 365) subscribers get monthly updates with quality and security fixes every month.

The Office 365 apps for Mac are currently available from both the Mac App Store and a standalone installer you can get on. New installs of Office 365 for Mac will also require macOS 10.14 Mojave or newer starting next month. If you continue with an older version of macOS, your Office apps will continue to work but you will no longer receive any updates including security updates”, the company explained. “As of the Microsoft 365 for Mac November 2020 update, macOS 10.14 Mojave or later is required to receive updates to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote.

Not licensed, but will be installed with the downloaded software package. Microsoft O365 Application Compatibility Application/Platform Students: All previous versions of Microsoft Office need to be removed from your computer prior to installing Office 365.

Staff/Faculty: This software cannot be installed on PCC-owned devices with Microsoft Office 2019 (Windows and Mac) already installed. Some service offerings that function in Windows may not function similarly, or at all, on the Mac, Tablet, or Chromebook environment (see Application Compatibility table below).

If they do not register for the next term, their access is removed at the end of the current term. If a student is registered for the next term, their access continues.

Students who are enrolled in the current term, staff, and faculty have the ability to install the software on up to five (5) non-PCC devices. If you are having issues with you MyPCC account and/or password click here for MyPCC password resets or account recovery. Use your MyPCC email address and Password to access the software installation files. PCC’s Microsoft Office 365 for Education licensing allows staff, faculty, and students the ability to download desktop versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, and Outlook on their personal computers.
